I helped a lady to carry her grocery bags,
I guy on the main street I gave him some food for free;
tomorrow I will smile at someone who will look sad –
and one of these days I am going to plant a tree.
Sometimes I will stop to assist someone who looks lost,
I wrote a great review for a pub that I adore;
I learnt CPR and became an organ donor –
I gave blood at hospital and I will give some more.
I bought flowers to my wife, she had a shitty day,
it’s good to offer a warm meal for someone in need;
I visited a local library with some treats –
and donated a lot of books cause I like to read.
Then I picked up litter in my favourite St. James Park,
busy day for my neighbour I stopped to land a hand;
I covered the cost of a bill at a restaurant –
and will buy lemonade from a kid’s lemonade stand.
The truth is kindness costs nothing and it takes no time,
giving compliments could make someone’s entire day;
to make sure they were ok, I checked in with my friends –
I say “I love you” often and I do it my way.
This morning I gave up the seat on a crowded bus,
and brought in food and snacks for my fellow office mate;
I left a thank you note for hardworking mailman –
yes, there are so many ways to make people feel great.
